September Perfection

It was a fourth straight home game for the Amherst CIBC Wood Gundy Ramblers as they look to wrap up the opening month of the MHL season with another win as the Yarmouth Mariners rolled into town.

It wasn’t the start to the game Rams fans were used to with the Mariners getting the opening goal, the first time all season the Rams had given up the opening goal, that wouldn’t deter the Ramblers offence, who welcomed in Thomas Auger from the QMJHL on Sunday and Auger would make an instant impact setting up Mathis Perron to draw the game even going to the second.

The Rambler’s lethal powerplay would heat back up in the second period as, on a five-on-three, Thomas Auger would find Charles-Antoine Lavallee alone at the top of the faceoff circle, and Lavallee would rip it top left to give the Ramblers the lead. Lyam LeBlanc would keep the ship steady to send the Ramblers to the third up a goal.

The Lavallee show would continue into the third as Thomas Auger would feed Charles-Antoine Lavallee, and Chucky would get his second of the game and extend the Ramblers lead to 3-1. Yarmouth would start to put some pressure on the Ramblers and draw the game back to a goal halfway through the third. With the game close the Auger, Lavallee, Perron would extend the lead back to two as, for the third time this afternoon, Auger passes the puck to Lavallee and bang 4-2. Late in the third Yarmouth would score but the referees would call off the goal for goalie interference opening the doors for Charles-Antoine Lavallee to score on the empty net and get his fourth goal on the game.

The Ramblers complete the month of September with a perfect 4-0 record good enough for second in the south division and 8th in Canada. Ramblers will start of October on the road in northern New Brunswick, playing on Campbellton on Friday and Miramichi on Saturday.
